Acapulco-Manila Galleon

The Artistic Installation "Journey” (Acapulco Manila Galleon) is a captivating tribute to the rich history of the trade route between Mexico and the Philippines. Featuring detailed miniature boats laden with goods, it symbolizes the deep connections formed between these lands.

At its heart, a remarkable carpet made of over 20,000 flowers maps the trade route, representing the emotions and cultural impact of this exchange. The floral tapestry embodies gratitude, love, friendship, and affection inspired by the trade.

As visitors explore the installation, they experience the profound human connections, artistic influence, and cultural exchange that flourished along this historic route. "Acapulco Manila Galleon" honors the trade's enduring legacy, highlighting its power to evoke emotions and unite cultures through history.

‘Tree of Life’ Installation

The Tree of Life is an ancient symbol with deep spiritual, religious, and cultural meanings. It also represents a family tree, showing lineage and connections.

Created in collaboration with Pedro Ortega, a master in paper and cardboard art, this installation highlights the racial mix (mestizaje) between Mexico and the Philippines during the Acapulco-Manila Galleon trade (16th-19th centuries). Pedro's award-winning creations grace homes worldwide, and his expertise makes him the ideal artist for this project.

The installation symbolizes the cultural and racial blending that led to the mestizo population. It also showcases significant items exchanged during the trade, emphasizing its historical impact and the connections between Asia and the Americas.
